Sweet Susana
By Ruben Blue

Listen to the song here

’ Twas a warm spring day
Out in the Desert
North of East Palmdale
On a road of dirt

There lived a lady
The girl next door
Strawberry blonde hair
And a smile to adore

She had a sale
at her house and garage
And then I saw her
Like a mirage

My mind was spinning
She served me ale
That came all the way
From East Palmdale

- - - - - - -
CHORUS
Don’t cry, Susana
When your life seems blue
Keep your chin up high
We’re all here for you
- - - - - - -

She was so happy
And I felt her glow
for miles and miles
down that desert road

She’s a land surveyor
From early days
Sixty bucks an hour
Was her pay

Out by the pool
We had some beer
We shared some stories
Some sad to hear

We played our songs
With music that binds
Our sacred bodies
and our minds

- - - - - - -
CHORUS
My Sweet Susana
Your life seems sad and blue
But don’t cry, girl
We are here for you
- - - - - - -

When her kids grew up
She got some slack
But lost her confidence
And needs it back

Over days and weeks
Our friendship grew
Like spring flowers
And honeydoo

We laughed together
With stories from home
Her words were sweet
Like a favorite poem

I loved her laughter
As we shared rhymes
to hear forever after
with our minds
